Chapter 11: Audiovisual Technologies

Traditional Visual Technology:
-          Bulletin board:  I will use this in my classroom to display things like students work and useful information.

Emerging Visual Technology:
-          Internet (Website):  I will use this a lot like the bulletin board in my classroom.  An advantage of being online is that it can be accessed anytime, from anywhere.

Traditional Audio Technology:
-          Tape recorder:  I will use this to record my ESL students’ voices so they can work on their pronunciation.

Emerging Audio Technology:
-          iPod:  I will let students listen to their recorded voices so they can work on their pronunciation.  I will also use the iPod to make other recordings to let the students listen to.

Chapter 6: Digital Technologies in the Classroom

I would prefer to teach in a classroom that has more digital technologies. Although I want to teach in a classroom that has more digital technologies, I would be careful on which technologies to choose. Digital technologies are still new and are not always reliable. I would still want to try some of the new technologies but will also stay with some of the older, more trustworthy technologies. I will be teaching English as a second language in my classroom and feel that many digital technologies offer a lot of assistance when teaching this subject. Technologies can go above and beyond the traditional way of learning helping students excel. This can be especially true for prereaders or special needs students. Digital technologies do have their disadvantages however I feel that their advantages outweigh their shortcomings.

My favorite Super Bowl ad

There were a few great commercials during the 2011 Super Bowl.  My favorite would have to be Audi's commercial called "Release the hounds".  I enjoyed this commercial; it made me laugh a few times.  It caught my attention because the opening scene depicted very "classy" jail cells, which was an odd thing, but an attention getter.  When a prisoner was on the run a man ordered to "release the hounds".  The dogs they released were humorous because they were dogs with silky long hair instead of aggressive looking dogs one would have expected to see.  My favorite part was when the man ordered to "hit them with the Kenny G".  Once he did that a Kenny G song played and the reactions of the people were funny.
